Paint and Sheetrock

The house!  The house!  She has her first coat of new paint.

Here you can see the obviousness of my statement "first coat" of paint.  Also the reason for the plastic over the windows.

Starting to look fabulous, no?

Inside, we have sheetrock.

This is the view from the living room to the kitchen.  I keep showing this particular viewpoint, because I think it will be particularly dramatic when the cabinets are finally in.  On the other hand, by then I may have forgotten all about my dramatic photography build up.

Kitchen again.  Are you feeling the dramatic tension?

Dining area.  Less drama.

Standing in the kitchen, looking towards the living room. Thats enough.  I'm weary of the kitchen.

Lets walk down the hallway to the upstairs bedrooms.

This is the front bedroom.  Full of sheetrock scraps.

Hey, whats going on downstairs?  Follow the light....

TV room.  The sheetrock on the lower part of the wall is blue because its a special kind of sheetrock.  Something about moisture, or something.  And that is as technical as I'm going to get about that.  You're welcome.

Hello Mr. Rocker.

Look at him screw that sheetrock to the ceiling.  He's just a blur.

Because I knew you were so thrilled by the last picture, here's another guy screwing sheetrock to the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom.  Also, there's some more of the special sheetrock.  You're welcome again.

Paint Prep and Sheetrock

Outside, the painting prep continues.  See?  The windows are covered with plastic.

Inside, the sheetrock has been delivered.

Not only has it been delivered, but the sheetrockers are putting it in.  See the ceiling?

Here's the front bedroom from the other side.

Master bedroom.

Master bedroom again.  That's the door into the bathroom.  Just duck.

The guys are working on the closet.  I like their ladders.

See those ladders?  How handy would they be?  I could walk around the house and never touch the floor.  Which would be particularly helpful on cleaning days.  Not only for the cleaning of things I can't reach, but also to keep the floor clean by not walking on it.  Totally win-win.

Jackhammers and Paint

Here's Dan, at one of his favorite jobs.  Jackhammering.  Ok, that's me being sarcastic.  Jackhammering is not his favorite job, it's probably one of his least favorite jobs.  But I'm guessing you knew that already.

He's taking out the concrete down the side of the garage.  It was old and uneven, so had to come out.  See the pieces he's already removed in a pile behind him?

Meanwhile, around front, the painters are getting ready to paint!  Here, they've covered the windows and gutters with plastic and paper.

They've  already started on the end.  The lower stucco part is already painted, and now they're starting on the siding.

 

And here is the back.  Talk about a mishmash!

Here comes Dan with another load of concrete.  Again, I just try to get my pictures and stay out of the way.

Lets take another look at that house.  The stucco is painted, the old siding is yellow, the new siding is tan, the trim is grey.  Lovely.

There goes Case to check on the progress.  If you  look through the garage door, you can see up the street.  Have you not noticed that before?  Or maybe I haven't given you any good pictures to illustrate it.  Sorry.

Insulation

Since Mom is visiting, I've taken some time off work to do some fun stuff.  Today we went to the beach.

That's my Mom down by the water.  Tiny Mom on the big beach.

Here she is again.  Hi Mom!

While Mom and I were off galivanting at the beach, the insulation guys were at the house, insulating.

Hi Chris in the garage.

Thats the front door, and looking through the wall to the front bedroom.

Then I turned around and took a picture of the living room.

Thats the kitchen window off in the distance.  On the right are Chris and the Big Dog pulling electrical wires.
